Mvuselelo, the first male-friendly clinic in Region A has been launched at Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre (Witkoppen) in a bid to help fight HIV infections in young girls, women and their partners. This clinic is not just a place to test for HIV, but also a place where men can be attended to for other illnesses. Because Mvuselelo seeks to encourage men’s access to healthcare, it is operated by an all-male staff compliment (including a professional nurse and a counsellor for HIV testing). This is a first of its kind in the area and it is for the guys. The launch was graced by various international agency delegates, Johannesburg Ward Councillors, Community Leaders, the media and the owners of the event, the men.
