Witkoppen Clinic provides psychotherapy, counselling, social services assistance and medical
treatment to any individuals who are or have been victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

We provide an integrated service, in a safe, non-judgmental space, that treats and supports the
whole person, resulting in the improvement of their mental, social and physical well-being.

We offer the following services:
-Psychotherapy and counselling for depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD
-Social services consultations and guidance
-J88 form completion
-Medical treatment and clinical care for minor trauma
-Appropriate referrals to other service providers

Please note if you have recently suffered an assault, including a sexual assault, please go to your
nearest police station or go to Sunninghill Hospital or Olivedale Clinic as soon as possible.

Victim Empowerment Programme

Lifeline Johannesburg runs a victim empowerment programme based in Soweto and the Johannesburg Inner City, working in partnership with the Department of Community Safety, the Department of Health and Social Development and South African Police Service.

They manage 17 trauma centres attached to as many police stations. A trauma centre is a room in a police station allocated to victim support and manned by volunteer victim supporters who work alongside a SAPS coordinator.

Ikhaya Lethemba

Ikhaya Lethemba, Braamfontein is a One Stop Centre for female victims of crime and violence. The shelter can accommodate 120 women and children for a period of up to 9 months. Their Social Work team provide counselling to shelter residents, an in-house crèche, an in-house library and gym, after school homework programmes and holiday programmes for the children accommodated with their mothers in the shelter.
