Our orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) programme provides services to OVCs who are identified by field workers in the following informal settlements: Diepsloot Extension 12 and 13, Thabo Mbeki, and Msawawa. Their caregivers are usually affected or infected by HIV/Aids.
The children are supported through ‘kids’ groups’, skills development, food security, and empowerment of their caregivers.
We provide economic and psychosocial support, poverty alleviations measures, and strengthen the capacity of parents and caregivers to care for OVCs. This helps to protect the children against negative outcomes like loss of education, morbidity, and malnutrition.
